Frequently asked questions
Glossary of terms
- Sentiment Score
- A single number from −100 (extreme fear) to +100 (extreme greed) that measures the balance of bullish versus bearish chatter about a ticker across Reddit, X, StockTwits, and financial news.
- Sentiment Label
- A plain-language band for the score: Extreme Fear, Fear, Neutral, Greed, or Extreme Greed. It makes the raw number easier to read at a glance.
- Trade Signal
- An AI-derived Strong Buy, Buy, Hold, Sell, or Strong Sell rating based on sentiment level and momentum. It is a research signal, not financial advice.
- Confidence
- A 0–100 measure of how much data supported a scan. Higher confidence means more posts and more recent coverage backed the result.
- Trending Topics
- The specific themes driving conversation about a ticker right now — for example 'Q2 earnings beat', 'FDA approval', or 'buyback announcement'.
- Narrative
- A macro theme that moves groups of stocks together, such as AI infrastructure or GLP-1 weight-loss drugs. Sentinel tracks how each narrative's sentiment and momentum evolve over time.
- Momentum
- The direction a narrative or sentiment reading is heading — surging, growing, stable, fading, or collapsing — independent of the absolute score.
- Smart Money Flow
- A Pro signal that contrasts institutional-style positioning with retail chatter to highlight where large players may be accumulating or distributing.
- Divergence
- When price action and social sentiment move in opposite directions — often an early warning that the crowd and the tape disagree.
- Watchlist Auto-Scan
- A Pro feature that re-scans your saved tickers on a schedule and alerts you when sentiment, signal, or trending topics shift.
